Ask your financial planner and they will agree that long-term real estate is almost always a good investment as long as the timing is right for you. Even in California where average home prices are notoriously high can real estate be a sound investment; you just need to be more cautious of the type of investment you make. While primary residences are still a hot commodity up and down the state, the pockets of investment areas are quickly shriveling up.
